Massabesic Center for Adult Learning is located in the Massabesic East building.
MISSION STATEMENT
Massabesic Center for Adult Learning serves the residents of the R.S.U. #57 communities by enabling learners to pursue academic, business and training, and personal enrichment opportunities; increase their economic strength; and contribute to their families, communities, and workplaces.
Day and Evening Classes
Adult literacy, skill brush-up, high school completion, GED preparation, business and workforce training, and personal enrichment courses are offered. Classes are available both day and evening. Some computer and office skills courses are offered days as well as evenings.
Childcare
Childcare is available in our Children's Room on Monday through Thursday mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon at no cost to parents.
GED Official Testing
Adults who have completed GED classes may schedule official testing by calling M.C.A.L. at 247-2022. Testing is held on the following days and times:
Tuesday 3:30 to 6:30 PM
Wednesday 9:30 to 11:30 AM (2nd Wednesday only)
Thursday 6:00 to 8:00 PM
Weather Cancellations
Day and evening classes at M.C.A.L. will be canceled if weather causes day school cancellations. If storm conditions develop late in the day and adult education classes are canceled, cancellations will be announced by 4:00 PM on local radio and TV stations. You may also check the TV websites.

Accuplacer
To enroll in community college or a university, students must have a passing score on the ACCUPLACER test. Massabesic Center for Adult Learning (MCAL) is a testing site where this computerized test can be taken. Because it is computerized, immediate score reporting will be available. Students and community members can call MCAL to make an appointment with Suellen Doggett.
Ed2go Online Courses
If you are unable to attend classes as scheduled, perhaps the flexibility of an online course will work for you. To see a complete listing of over 300 courses, descriptions, starting dates, and costs, go to http://www. ed2go.com.mae and register online.
Gift Certificates
If you would like to purchase a gift certificate or help someone pay for a course, contact our office at 247-2022. We will gladly provide an attractive certificate for you to give.
Driver Education
Driver Education is offered by Can-Do Driving School after school from 2:00 to 4:20 PM on specified days at Massabesic East. An orientation that must be attended by a parent/guardian and student is scheduled before each class. Please bring an original birth certificate and a Social Security card or number. Payment in full is due at the orientation. A schedule of classes can be found in our catalog and on this website.
NO SMOKING ON SCHOOL PREMISES
In order to promote the health and safety of all students and staff and the cleanliness of the facilities, RSU #57 prohibits smoking an all school premises.
Refunds
A refund is available if:
1. your class is canceled,
2. your class is full when we receive payment
3. you withdraw from the class at least 3 business days in advance of the course starting date.
Material costs paid to instructor cannot be refunded by our program.
